The European Union has initiated an investigation into suspected price-fixing practices among major tyre manufacturers including Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Pirelli, and Nokian Tyres. This follows raids conducted by EU antitrust officials at the premises of these companies.
The European Commission has stated concerns over potential violations of EU antitrust laws, prohibiting collusion and anti-competitive practices. Consequently, hauliers have been advised by Jonathon Backhouse of Backhouse Jones to meticulously maintain detailed records of tyre purchases.
These records could prove crucial in any future legal proceedings. The probe raises significant concerns regarding potential price manipulation and breach of antitrust regulations, necessitating a thorough examination of the business practices of the implicated companies.
